3 Ways to Improve Search Engine Marketing

When there's money at stake, it's important to pay close attention to your PPC campaigns.

3 Ways to Improve Search Engine Marketing

Practicing search engine marketing is a cost-effective way for businesses to attract new prospective customers to their websites. If you practice search engine marketing or would like to do so, then check out these three tips:

Your Search Engine Marketing Should be Consistent with your Brand

First things first: don't just separate search engine marketing from other marketing practices due to its technical nature. If you do this, then your online marketing efforts will be inconsistent.

An important aspect of search engine marketing is converting leads after you generate them. According to a recent Marketing Land article, you need to have a consistent marketing campaign in order to do this well:

"SEMs need to be able to both capitalize on the increased traffic and keep the message consistent (using taglines and trademarks in ad copy is a great way to solidify branding across those channels). And more and more people are “showrooming” — visiting a store, looking at products in person, then searching online for the best possible price."

Write for people, not for search engines

Although some businesses tend to prioritize search engines when it comes to content creation, we always recommend marketers to write for people. The irony is that by "writing for search engines" you might wind up damaging your page rank. If your definition of writing for search engines is to spam your keyword fifty times in your content, then you should definitely start writing for people.

Keep up-to-date with Google's algorithm

A frustrating aspect of search engine marketing is how often it changes. Google releases new updates to its algorithm a few times per year, which forces businesses to update their marketing strategies. If you fall behind in this regard, then your search engine marketing strategy will get outdated and your page rank will drop.

You can increase your page rank by having a consistent marketing campaign, creating great content that's targeted for people, and staying up-to-date with Google's algorithm. To talk more about search engine marketing contact us
